Imran ‘reaping what he sowed’: Maryam

MANSEHRA:

Directing pointed remarks against former premier Imran Khan, PML-N Chief Organiser Maryam Nawaz on Monday said she would refrain cursing “those facing consequences today”, claiming that he was reaping what he sowed.

Addressing a rally in Mansehra, Maryam Nawaz alleged that those who touted the ‘Ten Billion Tree Tsunami Initiative’ ended up selling the wood of already planted trees before fleeing.

“Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is not a laboratory to come, do the experiment and leave,” she said.

Maryam lashed out at Imran Khan for neglecting the people of K-P, where his party traditionally holds influence, saying, “I am sorry this person did not think of you”.

She went on to take a dig at the Peshawar metro bus, claiming it runs less and consumes more resources.

Challenging the PTI’s track record in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, she questioned, “Those who have ruled Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for 10 years should show one hospital, one school, one metro bus that has been built for the people here.”

Maryam Nawaz noted that Nawaz Sharif’s worst opponents harboured not only political grudges but personal vendettas against him.

Invoking the cultural values of K-P while criticising Imran Khan’s alleged misogynist remarks against women political rivals, Maryam asked the people if it was customary to shout at women during public meetings.

While refraining from “cursing those facing challenges”, Maryam said that actions leave a lasting impact, “following individuals to their graves”.

She highlighted Nawaz Sharif’s affection for Mansehra and Hazara, noting that he had dedicated Captain (R) Safdar to serve the region.

Maryam Nawaz warned that if Nawaz Sharif is expelled, the consequences for the country would be nothing short of ruins.
