MANSEHRA: Lower Kohistan district administration on Friday asked the non-governmental organisations (NGOs) to get prior official approval for executing projects in the district.

Deputy Lower Kohistan Commissioner Bashir Khan told reporters the administration wanted NGOs to carry out work keeping in view the local culture and traditions. He said a ban had been imposed on the free mobility of the NGO workers’ and the transfer of the two Education Department officials from the district was recommended.

The deputy commissioner said religious scholars had put forward three demands after the schoolchildren danced at a ceremony in connection with the enrolment drive earlier this week.The official said he met ulema and told them that their demands would be met. He said action was taken later accordingly.He said the mega energy projects were being executed here and nobody could be allowed to challenge local culture and traditions unjustly.
