Sunflower seeds distributed among farmers of Bara region

BARA: Sunflower seeds were distributed among the farmers at a ceremony here on Wednesday.An awareness session was also held for the farmers on the directives of Director General Agriculture Extension Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Jan Muhammad, Director General Agriculture Extension Merged Areas Murad Ali Khan.

The session was held in coordination with the Agriculture Extension Department Khyber district at the agriculture training centre Bara. Local farmers and elders participated in the event.

Director Model Farm Agriculture Extension KP Hafiz Farhad, District Director Agriculture Extension Khyber Ziaul Islam Dawa and others attended the ceremony. Speaking on the occasion, Additional Deputy Commissioner Haseebur Rahman said they would extend all-out help to farmers as agriculture was the backbone of the economy.

He said one bag contained two kilogram of high-quality sunflower seeds, which could be cultivated on one acre of land.The official maintained that under the Economic Recovery and Development Activity (ERDA) program of USAID, the land owners of Khyber were being provided facilities to cultivate crops on hundreds of acres of land. Later, the official distributed sunflower seeds and fertilizer among 300 farmers.
