Columbia University has canceled its main commencement ceremony and moved the majority of its school-level graduation events off campus, the university announced Monday, the latest disruption at a school roiled by weeks of pro-Palestinian protests and a police response that led to dozens of arrests.
Columbia canceled a university-wide ceremony scheduled for May 15 and moved most individual schools’ graduation events from its main Morningside campus, where most protests have taken place, to the university’s Baker Athletics Complex at the northernmost tip of Manhattan.
