Job Seeker Delivers Pizza And Resume To Startup, CEO Responds

In today’s competitive job market, people are always looking for creative ways to make themselves stand out. From eye-catching resumes to interactive portfolios, the options are endless. Well, one candidate went above and beyond by delivering his job application along with a pizza to the company’s office, hoping to secure an interview. Matthew Parkhurst, CEO of the New York-based startup Antimetal, was so impressed by this unconventional approach that he shared a post about the applicant on X, formerly Twitter.

“David,” an aspiring intern, sent a pizza to the office of the company he hoped to intern with along with his resume. It was accompanied by a handwritten note which showed his eagerness to join their team as an engineering intern. In his note, David jokingly admitted that the pizza was a bribe to entice the hiring team to review his website and portfolio.

He wrote, “Hey Antimetal team, congrats on the recent launch. Inspired by Antimetal’s brief stint as slices as a service company, please enjoy this pizza. I’ve also brought a copy of my resume as an application for the engineering intern position. I’m super excited by the opportunity and am driven to do what it takes. PS: This is basically a bribe for you to go to my site. P.P.S. I’ve made a small PR to fix some links in your docs.”

This unconventional method certainly grabbed the attention of the hiring team and showed David’s initiative and out-of-the-box (pizza) thinking.

The Anitimetal CEO wrote in the caption, “Another internship application – came to our office and dropped off a pizza with his resume. Even pushed a PR to fix 2 links in our docs prior. 100% getting an interview.”
