The Sindh government has decided to start the process of procurement of wheat of the new crop season on March 20, 2024.
A statement issued on Sunday quoted the newly appointed Sindh food minister, Jam Khan Shoro, as saying that a total of 353 centres would be established across the province for the procurement of wheat.
He said the food department would set up 78 procurement centres in the Hyderabad division, 71 in the Larkana division, 68 in the Sukkur division, 58 in the Shaheed Benazirabad, 40 in the Mirpurkhas division and 38 procurement centres would be established in Sanghar. He added that the food department had taken all the steps required for wheat procurement from the growers as the government had set the target of procuring 900,000 tonnes of wheat.
