4 Okla. frat boys arrested for leaving dead longhorn outside rival fraternity

Four Oklahoma State University frat members were arrested for leaving a branded dead longhorn outside a rival fraternity.

Bennett Fady, Luke Ackerley, Brody Shelby, and Andrew King — members of the Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity — have all been charged with a misdemeanor for unlawful disposal of a carcass Wednesday.

They have been accused of dumping the dead longhorn Dec. 1 outside the Farmhouse Fraternity, with the words: “F–k FH’ written on the animal’s side, and its stomach cut open.

The morbid act was apparently part of a prank war between the two frats, court documents revealed, according to News on 6.

Surveillance footage allegedly shows three of the men tying straps around the porch pillar before a fourth drove a truck away, pulling the animal out of the bed.

However, after gaining access to the video through a warrant, police said a large portion of the footage was missing from around the time of the incident, according to the report.

The boys got the dead animal from a family member of another Alpha Gamma Rho member, and borrowed someone’s truck to haul the longhorn, investigators said. The owner of the vehicle reportedly did not know what the college students were planning to do, according to News on 6.

OSU said at the time it was “appalled at the disturbing display of animal cruelty.”

Farmhouse Fraternity issued a statement after discovering the animal, saying it was “sickened and surprised” to find the dead animal and insisted none of its members were involved.

Police determined through a necropsy report that the cow had died approximately 36 hours before it had been found and had died of natural causes before coming into the boys’ hands. Kennedy Thomason/The O’Colly

The animal dumping took place right before the Big 12 football championship against the Texas Longhorns. Fraternity members told Stillwater Police they believed it had been dumped by their rivals as part of an ongoing prank war, according to WFAA.

A necropsy found the cow had died approximately 36 hours before it had been found, and had died of natural causes before coming into the boys’ hands, police said.

The suspects were booked into the Payne County Jail.

They have been released on their own recognizance and pleaded not guilty.
