The Balochistan government has decided to increase the number of green buses in a move towards improving public transportation in Quetta.
Dr Faisal Ahmed Khan, the Chief Executive Officer of Balochistan Public Private Partnership (BPPP), told The Express Tribune that 25 more green buses would be on the roads of Quetta soon.
He revealed that the provincial government has already submitted a feasibility report to the Planning Commission of Pakistan to secure approval for the purchase of these buses.
“A total of 100 green buses would be on roads in Quetta after some time,” he stated.
The bus service is not only set to increase in quantity but will also extend its coverage to key areas such as Hazara Town, Marriabad, Samungli Road, Sariab Custom, Nawan Killi, and other parts of the provincial capital.

According to Dr Khan, the expansion of the green bus project is part of an ongoing effort to provide decent transportation facilities to the masses, highlighting the positive impact this expansion will have on the community.
The green bus project, originally approved by the former Balochistan chief minister, Jam Kamal Khan, has garnered widespread support.
Presently, only eight buses operate from Balochistan University to Belili Airport Road, prompting calls for an increase in the number of green buses. “We demand an increase in the number of green buses”, Asadullah, a young man said. He said that people heaved a sigh of relief after the launch of the green bus service.
Caretaker Prime Minister Anwarul Haq Kakar, during a recent visit, also reinforced the commitment to enhancing public transportation in Balochistan by announcing the provision of an additional 100 green buses.
