The wedding season is well and truly underway! While there might be gossip about several celebs tying the knot in the last month of 2023, we have already witnessed one royal wedding. Cricketer Imamul Haq tied the knot with the love of his life and his ‘best friend’, Anmol Mehmood, in an extravagant affair in Lahore over the weekend.
The festivities, comprising a Mehendi night, a Qawwali, the big day and the reception, were attended by the who’s who of the cricketing world. Imam’s close friends, including former Pakistan cricket team captain, Babar Azam, as well as the groom’s teammates Hassan Ali, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Shan Masood, and Sarfaraz Ahmed among others graced the wedding as well.
However, we saw Anmol absolutely nailing some of the best wedding looks donned by any bride this year. That being said, we cannot conveniently shy away from Imam’s dapper looks he sported during the nuptials. Here’s everything the couple wore on four of their events.
Mehendi:
The buzz surrounding the wedding began when couturier Hassan Shehryar Yasin (HSY) took to Instagram and shared three pictures of the bride, Anmol, with the hashtag, Imam Ki Anmol. From the said post, many deduced that the star cricketer was finally settling down. Posing at the scenic locales, Anmol donned a traditional HSY farshi gharara with a heavily embellished scarlet shirt. The ensemble is intricately embellished with exquisite gota work, and beadwork, along with chattapatti edging, and an array of other finely executed embroidery techniques. “With true attention to detail, the ensemble features a harmonious blend of tradition, craftsmanship, and breathtaking aesthetics,” HSY explained the look.
Qawwali night:
For their Qawwali night, the couple once again opted for HSY. Anmol donned a gorgeous muted lilac gown with silver detailing. She opted for a dainty diamond neckpiece and drop earrings as she adorned her engagement ring on one hand. For her makeup, she chose a soft eye with a nude lip and her hair was blow-dried to perfection. The groom, on the other hand, chose a dark kurta pyjama with mirrorwork detailing.
Wedding:
For the big day, Anmol wore a custom-made Zainab Salman embellished saree. The drape was accompanied by a pastel elaborate veil, with gold work. She chose chunky traditional jewellery and wore a matha-patti. Her makeup was stunning as well. She opted for a dark, smoky eye and a pale pink lip, matching her wedding outfit. Her choice of donning a saree on the wedding day reminded many of Katrina Kaif’s Sabyasachi saree at her reception. Imam, on the other hand, wore a pastel-hued sherwani and pyjama by Republic by Omar Farooq. He coupled his look with a matching turban (qula).
Reception:
This might be our favourite look of the two! For their reception, Anmol looked breathtaking in a gorgeous pastel Lajwanti gharara, coupled with a matching dupatta and shirt. Her dress was detailed with gold work and stylist, Zahra Sarfaraz seemingly nailed the brief of a regal bride! For her jewellery, Anmol opted for a Kundan neckpiece and matching earrings, completing her look with an elaborate teeka and jhumar. The groom, however, complemented his bride with a black three-piece suit, with a silk tie colour-coordinated with Anmol’s reception dress. We love the couple’s look for their last event.
