After no one hit it big in the Wednesday night drawing, the Powerball grand prize jackpot jumped to an estimated $925 million for the next drawing Saturday.
Wednesday’s jackpot total, by the time of the drawing, was up to $850 million.
If someone hits the jackpot in that drawing, it will be the fourth-largest prize won in Powerball history and the second-largest prize of 2023, right behind the last jackpot winner, a $1.08 billion prize ticket bought in California for the drawing held on July 19.
Since that win, there have been 30 drawings without a winner, Powerball said in an announcement.
The lump sum payment on Saturday’s jackpot is $432.4 million, with the other option being a smaller sum followed by 29 annual payments, each 5% larger than the last.
The $2 tickets are sold in 45 states, D.C., the U.S. Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico, and are unavailable in Alabama, Alaska, Hawaii, Nevada and Utah.
