Montgomery County Police arrest five for violent brawl after high school football game

Five teens have been arrested and accused of involvement in a mass brawl outside a Bethesda, Maryland, Metro station after a high school football game, the Montgomery County Police Department announced Friday.

The vicious fight took place on Sept. 1 after a game between Walter Johnson High School and Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School. The teens were arrested on charges including armed robbery and first- and second-degree assault.

Video of the violence, which included a pack of teenagers kicking and stomping their victim, quickly surfaced on social media.

Montgomery County Public Schools helped identify suspects in the video, police said.

“No one takes any pleasure in seeing young people getting arrested. However, what was observed Friday was unacceptable and people got hurt,” Montgomery County Assistant Chief Administrative Officer Earl Stoddard said in a statement posted on X. “We continue to work on more programs to help young people that we know are struggling, but that can’t allow us to ignore acts of violence by youth.”

A male victim and a parent also reported the violence the night of the incident.

A 16-year-old suspect, Kharon Crosby, faces charges as an adult for armed robbery and second-degree assault. He has been released on $10,000 bond and ordered to stay away from victims and fellow suspects as well as both schools as part of a 24/7 home curfew with electronic monitoring, according to WTOP-FM.

Two other suspects, one 15 and one 16, who were not named by police, are charged as juveniles with robbery and second-degree assault. The other two suspects, also not named by police, both 15, face first-degree assault charges.

Law enforcement said that they expect to make more arrests as investigation continues into the incident.
