Army officer, soldier martyred in North Waziristan IBO

An army officer and a soldier while fighting gallantly against terrorists embraced martyrdom during an intelligence based operation (IBO) conducted by the security forces on reported presence of terrorists in general area Miranshah of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa’s North Waziristan district on Friday, the military said.

During the operation, a party of terrorists was spotted and intercepted by Major Amir Aziz, who was leading the operation from front, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement.

“Resultantly, one terrorist was sent to hell while another was injured,” it added.

However, as result of heavy exchange of fire, two brave sons of the nation, Major Aziz, a 29-year-old resident of Sargodha district and Sepoy Muhammad Arif, a 27-year-old resident of Sahiwal district, having fought gallantly, embraced martyrdom.

According to military’s media arm, sanitisation of the area is being carried out to eliminate the terrorists present in the area.

“Security Forces of Pakistan are determined to eliminate the menace of terrorism and such sacrifices of our soldiers further strengthen our resolve,” it maintained.

Last night, a soldier of Pakistan Army embraced martyrdom in a fire exchange that took place between own troops and terrorists in general area Tirah, Khyber District, the military said.

A terrorist was also killed during the gun battle after the security forces effectively engaged the terrorists’ location, military’s media wing, the ISPR, said in a statement.

The killed terrorist remained actively involved in numerous terrorist activities against security forces and killing of innocent civilians, it said.
