How many migrants crossed the border in 2023? Way more than Joe Biden says

Anyone who needs more proof that President Joe Biden is still keeping the border wide open for illegal migrants should look at the latest depressing figures.

As The Post’s Andy Tillett & MaryAnn Martinez report, 150,578 migrants got notices to appear before an immigration judge in July; that’s more than three times the 45,000 Team Biden claimed would be let in via its special “parole” program for “asylum-seekers” from Venezuela, Haiti, Cuba and Nicaragua.

Biden’s 45,000 claim is bad enough: It means more than half a million per year allowed entry (with two-year work permits), above and beyond the limits Congress set for legal immigration.

Biden had no authority to set up a program like that.

Worse, it’s a charade: Those 45,000 migrants are supposed to make appointments at the border via Custom and Border Protection’s CBP One app and to meet certain requirements.

Under the original (twice-expanded) policy, anyone else is subject to “expedited removal” and loses the chance to apply again for the next five years.

Clearly, though, 105,000 or so migrants (in addition to the 45,000) were not expelled in July. Instead, they got told to appear before an immigration judge — so that 45,000 number is pure nonsense.

And how many of those ordered to see a judge later actually will?

That 150,000 monthly total adds up to a whopping 1.8 million illegal migrants a year; through this past July, the number stands at 820,500.

Nor does it count the hundreds of thousands of migrants who never get caught or entered into the system.

No wonder New York is seeing 10,000 new migrants a month (120,000 a year), forcing Mayor Eric Adams to keep scrambling for places to house them.

No wonder shelters in El Paso are filled to capacity. And now Tucson is becoming a hot spot.

The prez would love for everyone to think his border policies have “worked,” but the numbers don’t lie.

Nor do the realities cities face — and the costs they’re forced to pay.

Americans shouldn’t be afraid to trust their own eyes over Biden’s word.
