Zuckerberg suggest Musk isn’t serious about cage match

The much-hyped cage match between tech rivals Mark Zuckerberg and Elon Musk appears to be on ice.

Zuckerberg, Meta’s CEO, said Sunday he believes Musk, owner of X, formerly Twitter, isn’t serious about facing him in a mixed martial arts fight and should let it go nearly two months after trash talk surrounding the possible showdown began.

“I think we can all agree Elon isn’t serious and it’s time to move on,” the Facebook founder wrote on his new platform Threads Sunday.

He said he offered a real date for the billionaire battle and Dana White, UFC president, was willing to make the fight a “legit competition” with the proceeds going to charity.

“Elon won’t confirm a date, then says he needs surgery, and now asks to do a practice round in my backyard instead,” Zuckerberg wrote. “If Elon ever gets serious about a real date and official event, he knows how to reach me.”

In return, Musk called Zuckerberg a “chicken” on X in reply to a tweet about the brouhaha.

Zuckerberg, 39, has previously complained that he was ready to face his tech rival, but Musk, 52, wouldn’t commit to firm details.

Before Zuckerberg’s latest shot at his social media competitor, Musk shared a purported text exchange between him and Zuckerberg.

The texts allegedly showed Zuckerberg telling Musk he should train on his own and to let him know when he’s ready to brawl.

Zuckerberg, who trains in jujitsu, apparently said he didn’t want to keep hyping something that would never happen and advised Musk to either commit to the cage match or forget about it.

Musk texted back that he hasn’t been practicing much, but inquired about a practice fight in Zuckerberg’s backyard octagon.

Musk, who also leads Tesla and SpaceX, first challenged Musk to a “cage match” in June, which Zuckerberg was quick to accept.

The X owner previously said the fight would be live-streamed on his platform and on Meta with the money raised from the fight going to charity.

He teased it would take place in an “epic location” in Italy.

But he also recently revealed that he has a shoulder problem that may require surgery with a recovery period of “a few months.”
