Chinese CG hails CPEC’s progress


LAHORE:

The first-ever 4-day CPEC Punjab Media Delegation Initiative will commence on August 1 (today) as part of the ongoing celebrations of the 10-year anniversary of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) in Pakistan.

The event, scheduled to run until August 4, is being jointly organised by the Chinese Consulate Lahore and the Institute of International Relations and Media Research (IIRMR).

During the initiative, the delegation will visit various CPEC projects, including the Lahore Orange Metro Train, Sahiwal Coal-Fired Power Plant, Faisalabad M3 Industrial Park, and Matari-Lahore Transmission Line. Additionally, the delegation will have the opportunity to tour the Challenge factory, operated by a Chinese enterprise.

Chinese Consul General Lahore Zhao Shiren, expressed his enthusiasm for CPEC, highlighting its significance in fostering strong China-Pakistan friendship and partnership.

He emphasised that CPEC, as a key component of China’s Belt and Road Initiative, demonstrates China’s unwavering commitment to supporting Pakistan’s development.

Furthermore, the current year marks the ten-year milestone of CPEC’s development. In this regard, Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng’s official visit to Pakistan for the CPEC anniversary celebrations serves as an opportunity to implement important agreements between the two countries’ leaders and propel CPEC’s future growth and development.

Muhammad Mehdi, Chairman of the Institute of International Relations and Media Research (IIRMR), and President Yasir Habib Khan jointly expressed the delegation’s significance in fostering a deeper understanding of CPEC’s transformative impacts on Punjab’s development.

They noted how CPEC projects have enhanced energy and transport infrastructure.
