No Amount Of Alcohol Is Safe For You. Nutritionist Explains WHO Report

Heading to the bar after toiling for a week is what serves as therapy for many of us. Some prefer a pint of chilled beer while catching up with old friends while others sip red wine at family dinner. No matter what kind of booze you choose, there is one thing that remains common – alcohol. Now we all know that excess alcohol is injurious to health and can result in serious illnesses. Most of us are of the opinion that taking a couple of drinks once in a while doesn’t do any harm and we can continue doing that. But, this might not be the complete truth. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), alcohol may harm you regardless of the quantity you are consuming.

In a latest Instagram post, nutritionist Rujuta Diwekar explains the WHO report which says that “when it comes to alcohol consumption, there is no safe amount that does not affect health”. Citing the report, the nutritionist highlights that alcohol is the main reason behind several disorders like liver cirrhosis and other non-communicable diseases including heart diseases.

If you think that drinking expensive scotch or whiskeys can keep you out of harm’s way then know that it is not the beverage but alcohol in it that is harmful. The WHO report also states that there is no study that suggests that light and moderate drinking can do no harm.

The report also underlines that many people in most countries are still unaware that even a small amount of alcohol can impact health.
