Katy Perry roars ‘I am a champion’ at King Charles’ coronation concert

Bouncing back from a string of public controversies, Katy Perry took the stage by roaring “I am a champion!” Sunday at King Charles III’s coronation concert at Windsor Castle.

The 38-year-old “global pop superstar” — as she was hyped in her concert introduction — delivered her hit songs “Roar” and “Firework” while wearing a golden metallic Vivienne Westwood dress.

Perry dedicated her full-voiced performance to the freshly crowned monarch and the work that they do together with the British Asian Trust.

In between songs, Perry thanked King Charles for inviting her and also revealed to the cheering crowd that she brought a special guest with her.

“I got to bring my mum and stay in a castle,” gushed Perry.

Meanwhile, her vocally strong performance Sunday certainly went smoother than Saturday’s coronation day mishaps.

The “American Idol” judge arrived at Westminster Abbey for the coronation ceremony Saturday, wandering through the pews to find her seat for the high-profile event.

She was photographed looking a bit confused — and launched the first in a series of viral moments.

At one point, she even seemed to ask someone for assistance, with a video of the moment going viral on Twitter.

Perry, herself, even got in on the joke, tweeting, “Don’t worry guys I found my seat.”

But that wasn’t the end of Perry’s coronation gaffes. The “Teenage Dream” singer nearly fell while leaving the ceremony in the rain.

After snapping a few selfies with fans, Perry — dressed head-to-toe in a lilac Vivienne Westwood number — tripped in the wet conditions and almost took a tumble, managing to collect herself in the nick of time.

Her brief blunders, though, are now cemented in viral infamy, quickly gaining steam as memes online.

She elicited backlash for taking a picture of herself on Westminster Abbey’s memorial to Winston Churchill.

While it’s not forbidden to walk on a memorial or take a picture or selfie, it’s regarded as inappropriate.

Ahead of her performance, Perry revealed how “excited” she was to stay in Windsor Castle.

“They said I was allowed to stay at Windsor Castle which I’m really excited for,” the pop star told Extra TV, alluding to her excessive picture-taking. “I might be posting a lot because I’m gonna be in a castle, for real. This is wild.”

Home of Prince William and Kate Middleton, the 953-year-old citadel features an astounding 1,000 rooms and covers 484,000 square feet.

The “Firework” vocalist said she was so “grateful” for the “regal” invitation to perform.

“I was so grateful to get the honor,” said Perry, who is an ambassador to Charles’ foundation, the British Asian Trust.

The charity organization “primarily focuses on ending child trafficking,” Perry continued, “which is a huge issue of our time that people don’t talk about enough.

“He asked me to sing and it all aligned,” she said of King Charles III.

Lionel Richie, British pop group Take That and opera stars Andrea Bocelli and Bryn Terfel were also on tap to perform.

Both Richie, 73, and Perry serve as judges on “American Idol.” They will be temporarily replaced by Ed Sheeran, 32, and Alanis Morissette, 48, while they perform at the coronation.

The royal gig follows harsh criticism for Perry over her contestant commentary this season.

The “California Gurls” crooner was dubbed “rude” for “mom-shaming” one competitor and booed for critiquing another’s shimmering outfit.

But the critics’ roars fell on deaf ears.

“Katy isn’t fazed by the backlash,” an inside source exclusively revealed to Page Six. “This has been a rollercoaster season with a lot of great talent, so she is just doing her job.”
