Guadeloupe Rojas advises having a specific place for car gear, gardening items, beach chairs and winter items, such as salt to melt ice. “When you have an organized garage and you live in a seasonal state, you’re able to go and find exactly what you’re looking for,” she said.
To that end, New York designer Susan Petrie recommends the organizational systems from California Closets. “Yes they are a bit more expensive than a DIY or piecemeal install, but they specifically cater to individual needs of each client as everyone has different items they like to store in their garage,” she said. There are plenty of more affordable options out there, including from The Container Store or Ikea.
