Iran gas export to Pakistan faces no restrictions: envoy

Faridon Peer Lorin, the deputy consul general of Iran, has said that there is no restriction on Iran’s gas export to Pakistan as the latter has reached the immediate completion of the Iran gas pipeline project, making the implementation of the agreement possible.

“The people associated with the industry and commerce of Balochistan will participate in the International Trade Expo in Iran and give an opportunity to traders from all over the world the business chances available there,” the deputy consul general said while talking to members of the Quetta Chamber of Commerce and Industry on Monday.

Agha Gul Khalji and Vice President Syed Abdul Ahad Agha were also present. Lorin said, “The role of the officials and members of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Quetta, Balochistan is of key importance for the promotion of commerce.”

Achieving the bilateral trade goals of Pakistan and Iran is possible when the path of free and equal trade is paved, he stated.

He also mentioned the obstacles, saying that the Iranian authorities had taken measures in this regard.

Due to clearance issues, he said, thousands of vehicles were currently stuck on both sides of the border, which was not a good omen for bilateral trade. He urged the officials and members to work towards clearing the stuck vehicles.

He highlighted the issues of parking of cargo vehicles at the borders of Iran, the lack of pumps for oil, etc, expressing hope that they would be resolved soon.
