Manish Sisodia Arrested: Aam Aadmi Party leaders and workers protest nationwide

The Aam Aadmi Party leaders and workers are protesting near the BJP offices in Delhi amid tight security, day after the arrest of Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia in the Delhi liquor policy case.
Mr Sisodia reached the Rouse Avenue court and was produced before Judge MK Nagpal.
The CBI court granted five days of custody of Manish Sisodia till March 4.
Delhi Police has erected barricades on several roads leading to DDU Marg where both the BJP headquarters and the AAP office are located.
Protests were also organised in several other states across the country. Many protesting AAP workers were detained by the police.

Judge M K Nagpal reserves his order on the plea after hearing arguments from the CBI and Mr Sisodia’s counsel.

“As per Article 293 A, the government can’t do anything. Everything has to be done with the permission of the Lt Governor. Even the 12% margin clause was part of the note that was sent to the Lt Governor and it was cleared without any objection. The agency wants to go behind what an elected government ought to do” Mr Sisodia’s lawyer said.
“The grounds given in the arrest memo or the remand application can’t be the ground for police remand,” Mr Kishnan said.
“Lt Governor gave a nod for the policy in May last year. The CBI is trying to hide the suggestions Lt Governor gave and even those were accepted before implementation, Mr Sisodia’s lawyer said.

“There can’t be self incrimination, custody cannot be granted because I did not self incriminates. Someone not answering a question cannot be ground for custody,” Mr Krishnan appearing for Manish Sisodia said.
The CBI claims that I was not able to explain the changes to the policy. Is that ground for remand? Mr Sisodia’s lawyer said.
“He was summoned thrice and he appeared twice. CBI alleges that I was concealing true facts of the case. Their case is that I did not confess. That’s their case. They expect me to answer the way they want,” he added.

“CBI is showing call logs, but show us any phone calls to me, they are alleging that I destroyed my phone. I’m a minister. I can’t give my phone for second-hand use. It will have confidential data and it can’t be ground,” Mr Sisodia’s lawyer said.
Mr Sisodia gave evasive replies during questioning on the GoM note that was recovered from his computer, says CBI.
Manish Sisodia is accused number 1 in the first information report (FIR). Investigation revealed that Mr Sisodia removed the opinion of the legal expert from draft notice, says CBI.

Manish Sisodia May Be Produced Before The Court Via Video Conferencing
The CBI may produce Manish Sisodia in court via video conferencing today, sources say. The final decision on whether the deputy chief minister will be physically taken to Rouse Avenue court or produced virtually through video conferencing will reportedly be taken around 1 PM today.

Aam Aadmi Party’s national General Secretary Sandeep Pathak said that they will protest across the country today. Delhi police have deployed forces in several parts of the national capital, including the CBI headquarters where Mr Sisodia is being held.
AAP is also planning to stage a protest outside the Bharatiya Janata Party Headquarters at the Deen Dayal Upadhyay Marg in the national capital at around 12 pm today.
