At least 39 people were killed and many injured on Sunday as a passenger bus traveling from Quetta to Karachi fell into a ditch near Bela, Lasbela District in Balochistan.
According to Edhi sources, a fire broke out in the passenger bus after an accident due to which it was difficult to evacuate the passengers from the bus.
Assistant Commissioner (AC) Lasbela Hamza Anjum said that there were 48 people aboard, including children and women, confirming that the number of dead people in the accident has reached 39.

He furthered that he is monitoring the situation and maintained that most of the bodies are unidentifiable due to burning and DNA tests will be conducted.
Meanwhile, Edhi-in-charge Lasbela Dr Abdul Hakeem Laasi said that efforts are being made to evacuate passengers stuck in the bus.

Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Abdul Quddus Bizenjo expressed sorrow and regret over the tragic accident and directed the district administration to continue the rescue operation and take the injured to the hospitals immediately.
He also ordered authorities to provide the best medical facilities to those injured.
Earlier this month, five people were killed and three others sustained injuries as a passenger coach plunged into a drain near Rahim Kot in Azad Jammu and Kashmir’s (AJK) capital, Muzaffarabad.
As per details, the passengers were heading to their hometown Mustamba from Rawalpindi when the unfortunate accident happened.
According to Superintendent of Police Sultan Awan, the driver and the conductor could not survive the crash.
