Watch: Omelette Made With Lays Chips Pack; Internet Says “Not A Good Idea”

Lately, we have seen a flurry of innovative recipes taking over the Internet. From fusing dal makhni and ice cream together to preparing chocolate Maggi, people have explored every possible food combination. The latest addition to the list of such odd food combos is the Lay’s omelette. No, the recipe doesn’t just involve topping up the omelette with some crushed Lay’s chips, but something that most of us couldn’t have thought of. In a video uploaded on Instagram, a person prepares a Lay’s omelette inside a packet of chips. The clip begins with the innovator opening a packet of Lay’s Magic Masala chips. Following this, a raw egg is cracked and added to the chips along with some chopped onions and tomatoes. Some red chilli powder and salt also goes into it before the person crushes the packet to mix everything well.

The packet is then tied and placed in boiling hot water to cook the omelette. At the end of the clip, Lay’s omelette is taken out of the packet and placed on a plate.

The video has amassed close to 47,000 views on the platform and left users thinking if the recipe was really needed. Many showed concern over cooking the omelette inside a packet.

“It’s risky for health, steaming up in plastic is not a good idea,” a user wrote.

Another said, “So boiled chips and eggs are cooked in plastic. Ummm no.”

Some thought there were better ideas to combine the flavours of Lay’s with an omelette. “Just sprinkle those Lay’s chips on the omelette while cooking it will eventually give you the same output,” a comment read.

Earlier, another viral video showed a vendor placing gulab jamun between buns and making a gulab jamun burger. As the recipe did the rounds on the internet, it received mixed reactions, while some people were appalled, others were willing to give it a try.
