Shruti talks about getting a nose job, fillers

Bollywood actor Shruti Hassan has always been very vocal about getting her nose fixed. The actor, who made her Bollywood debut alongside Imran Khan in Luck, has spoken about getting fillers and a nose job. While she has addressed the topic time and again after being criticised for it, Hassan in a recent interview, called spade a spade.

“I did get my nose fixed and it was very obvious I got my nose fixed,” she told Hautterfly. “My nose was broken and quite different from before and I did my first film with my old nose. And people are like she’s just using the deviated septum excuse. No, I did have a deviated septum, it hurt. But if I could make it prettier, it’s my face, why wouldn’t I? It was that simple,” the Welcome Back actor said.

Hassan added, “I don’t feel the need to justify why I want to look a certain way for myself. They said, ‘Did you get fillers?’ Yeah. I did. ‘And tomorrow, would you get a facelift?’ Maybe, maybe not. Who knows? It’s my body and those who want to do whatever they want to or don’t want to, I don’t condone it. I don’t want people to say that Shruti is asking everyone to get fillers. No. If you want to do it, do it. If you don’t want to, then don’t. Let me do what I am doing.”

She also called out actors who hid about their surgeries. “If there are any actresses telling you they haven’t done it, they are blatantly lying because people’s faces don’t change that much. But it’s just something that I wanted to talk about,” she once told Hindustan Times.

In 2020, while speaking to Hindustan Times, Hassan talked about what prompted her to get plastic surgery done. When she was asked if there was pressure to look a certain way, Hassan said, “I think there is and there isn’t. There was a time I listened to the pressure. As far as my nose surgery goes, it’s a choice I made, even after my first film was done because my nose was broken. I didn’t like the way it felt. I didn’t like the way it looked. It was a personal choice. Nobody asked me to fix it.” Shruti stated that she was constantly on the receiving end of condescending comments like “your face is very Western, it’s very sharp, it’s very masculine.” The actor had added, “I was constantly hearing this and I did do non-invasive, temporary procedures, which I have been very open about.”

Haasan, who has frequently been trolled for her lip enhancement and nose job, shared an empowering post on her Instagram in the same year as well, in which she “admitted” that she has undergone plastic surgery and talked about body image issues. “I’m happy to say this is my life, my face and yes, I’ve had plastic surgery which I’m not ashamed to admit. Do I promote it? No. Am I against it? No. It’s just how I choose to live. The biggest favour we can do for ourselves and others is just be [ourselves] and learn to accept the changes and the movement of our bodies and minds,” read an excerpt from her post.
