Alabama leads Georgia, Ohio State after Texas A&M scare

College football’s Week 6 slate featured plenty of high drama but few actual upsets. As a result, the top 10 teams in the USA TODAY Sports AFCA Coaches Poll remain the same.

Alabama retains the No. 1 spot after a last-second escape from Texas A&M. The Crimson Tide claimed 35 of 63 first-place votes this week to stave off No. 2 Georgia. The Bulldogs handled Auburn with ease and were first on 18 ballots this week.

No. 3 Ohio State continues to pick up ground on the top two, however. The Buckeyes romped past Michigan State in their first road contest of the season and now have 10 first-place votes. Michigan and Clemson continue to round out the top five.

The rest of the top 10 also stays the same with Southern California, Oklahoma State, Tennessee, Mississippi and Penn State occupying the positions they held last week.
