Two killed in Kohlu market explosion


QUETTA:

At least two people were killed and dozens injured in a blast in the main market of Balochistan’s Kohlu district on Friday.

According to Levies sources, the explosion took place inside a sweet shop in the market.

The injured were rushed to Kohlu district headquarters hospital for medical treatment where doctors described the condition of five of the injured people as serious.

Police and Frontier Corps personnel reached the area immediately after the explosion was heard and an investigation into the incident is currently underway.

However, the nature of the blast is yet to be ascertained.

Provincial Home Minister Mir Ziaullah Langove strongly condemned the blast and directed the deputy commissioner to submit a report in this regard.

Earlier this month, one person was killed and 13 were injured in a blast on Quetta’s Sabzal Road.

Police sources had said unidentified miscreants lobbed a hand grenade that exploded between a rickshaw and a vehicle parked by the roadside.

The injured were rushed to Civil Hospital Quetta where senior doctors and paramedics were called to the trauma centre to treat the injured.

Police and Frontier Corps personnel had launched an investigation into the incident. The blast had been heard far and wide as it caused panic in the area.
