A case has been registered against SHO Mandira Malik Yasir Awan, nine policemen and a civilian for embezzling over Rs102.1 million from the recovered Rs150 million in a theft case at the Federal Investigation Agency’s (FIA) treasury.

The case, filed at Mandira Police Station by FIA Anti-Corruption SHO Asfandyar, alleges embezzlement and tampering with evidence. The FIA provided evidence of manipulation, including altered CCTV footage and doctored police station diaries related to the money manipulation. According to the complaint, on May 31, 2024, former FIA employees Saad Anwar and Muhammad Hamza stole Rs150 million in domestic and foreign currency from the FIA Commercial Police Station and Banking Circle, Islamabad. They attempted to flee via GT Road but were arrested by Mandira police near the GT Road Mandira Toll Plaza and stolen money was recovered from their possession.

CCTV footage confirmed the arrest and an FIA investigation and audit verified the theft. However, SHO Mandira Inspector Malik Yasir Awan and Assistant Sub-Inspector Imran Muzaffar, Police Constables Khizr Hayat, Muzaffar Shah, Shahid Mahmood, Asad Mahmood, Usman, Mukhtar Hussain, Muhammad Naeem Shahzad and a civilian working for the SHO allegedly embezzled over Rs110 million, reporting only Rs47.9 million in the official memo. They attempted to remove page 82 of the daily register at Mandira police station to cover up the fraud.

Case number 316/24 has been registered against the accused under Section 155C, 201 of the Police Order, and Section 380 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) at the request of FIA-SEO anti-corruption. Rawalpindi CPO has ordered the arrest and suspension of all involved personnel, including SHO Mandira.
