India Election Phase 6 Voting Live: Delhi and Haryana are voting in a single phase.

Election 2024 6th Phase Polling LIVE Updates: The sixth phase of voting in the ongoing Lok Sabha election took place in 58 seats across seven states and one Union Territory (UT) today. Delhi and Haryana voted in a single phase. Lok Sabha and Assembly elections are being held simultaneously in Odisha.

Till 11.45pm, 61.2% voter turnout was recorded. The highest voter turnout in Phase 6 was recorded in Odisha with 79.47% and the lowest turnout was reported from Uttar Pradesh at 54.03%.

The Election Commission has asked poll officers and authorities to take adequate measure to mitigate the effects of rising temperatures in Delhi, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh due to a heatwave across north India.

Voters in the following seven states and one union territory casted their ballots: Eight seats each in Bihar and Bengal, seven in Delhi, 10 in Haryana, four in Jharkhand, 14 in Uttar Pradesh, and the final seat in Jammu & Kashmir — Anantnag-Rajouri, where poling was moved from the third to the sixth phase.

Some of the key seats in this phase include New Delhi, North-East Delhi, North-West Delhi and Chandni Chowk in the national capital and Sultanpur and Azamgarh in Uttar Pradesh. Jammu and Kashmir’s Anantnag-Rajouri, West Bengal’s Tamluk, Medinipur, Haryana’s Karnal, Kurukshetra, Gurgaon, Rohtak and Odisha’s Bhubaneswar, Puri and Sambalpur are some of the other key seats.

As voting for the sixth phase of Lok Sabha Polls comes to an end, Prime Minister Narendra Modi asserted that the numbers of the BJP-led NDA alliance are “looking better and better”.

Taking to X, formerly Twitter, PM wrote, “I thank all those who have voted in the penultimate phase of the 2024 Lok Sabha polls. NDA’s numbers are looking better and better. People have realised that since INDI Alliance is coming nowhere close to power, voting for it is futile.”

The specially designed pink and model booths were a hit among the voters, who not only cast their votes with ease but also enjoyed clicking selfies on the polling day.

The seven Lok Sabha constituencies in Delhi went to polling in the sixth phase on Saturday.

A vibrant effort to enhance the voting experience, the polling stations featured model encouragement facilities, including pink sofas, spacious waiting areas with water fans, pitcher water, colourful rangoli, beautiful hanging decorations, selfie booths, carpets and wheelchairs to help the disabled.

Speaking about the pink booth arrangement, Priyanka Vajpayee, a voter, said, “I was surprised when I entered the booth because it was not like the last time. It was all decorated with flowers and balloons.” The pink booth was managed by female staff and it was decorated with lots of cutouts, motivational quotes and beautification work to enthuse people. To strengthen democracy, the Manipal Hospital in Delhi’s Dwarka area on Saturday helped patients cast their votes during the sixth and penultimate phase of the Lok Sabha elections.

The hospital said this initiative aims to highlight the importance of voting as a fundamental duty of every responsible Indian citizen.

“By supporting our patients in exercising their right to vote, we are not only prioritising their health but also empowering them as active participants in our democracy. Every vote matters, and we are proud to ensure that our patients’ voices are heard,” said Viji Verghese, Director, Manipal Hospital, Dwarka.

Paytm Founder and CEO Vijay Shekhar Sharma said that India has a true momentum across growth parameters and he wants an extension of that momentum, as he cast his first vote in Delhi during the sixth and penultimate phase of the Lok Sabha elections on Saturday.

A voter turnout of 34.37 per cent was recorded till 1 pm in Delhi, where polling is underway for its seven Lok Sabha constituencies on Saturday.

The office of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) said that at 37.31 per cent, the highest turnout was recorded in the North East Delhi constituency while Chandni Chowk had the lowest voting percentage at 32.18.

Poll officials said there were no reports of technical snags or delays in the commencement of voting at any polling station.

Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Rajiv Kumar cast his vote at a polling booth in Delhi, Speaking on the recent Supreme Court decision to decline to pass any direction on the Election Commission’s (EC) handling of Form 17C data and booth-wise voter turnout, CEC Rajiv Kumar emphasized the need to dispel doubts and suspicions surrounding electoral processes.
