ICJ orders Israel ‘to immediately halt’ Rafah offensive

The International Court of Justice ordered Israel on Friday to “immediately halt” its offensive in Rafah, a high-profile rebuke that adds to global pressure on Israel over its war Gaza. In a statement released after the ruling, Israeli officials called accusations it was committing genocide in Gaza “false, outrageous and disgusting.” There was no sign of any pause in fighting in Gaza after the ICJ ruling, with Palestinians reporting strikes in Rafah and images emerging of black smoke rising over the city.
