LAHORE:
The transfer and posting on key police positions continued as the orders of transfer of two CPOs and DIG investigations were issued on Monday.
Sohail Akhtar Sukhera has been appointed as DIG investigations Lahore in place of DIG Athar Ismail. Rana Ayyaz Saleem has been appointed as City police officer (CPO) Gujranwala and Omer Saeed has been transferred.
There are five CPO posts in Punjab. The interviews of various police officers have been conducted. The rest of four officers will also be changed in coming days.
On the day over 49 DSPs posted in Lahore were also transferred and around 20 DPOs are expecting transfer in a day or two.
With the change of chief minister Pervaiz Elahi by Mohsin Naqvi, the change of command in police has been also kick-started. It started with the transfer the IGP and Lahore CCPO and transcended to change of RPOs.
From RPOs it shifted to change of senior police officers in Lahore. SSP operations, investigations, divisional sps have been changed in Lahore. On Monday, DSPs were also transferred.
In the next phase, DPOs will be reshuffled. In this regard on Monday, the orders of transfer of DPO Sheikhupura Naveed Irshad were issued.
The others orders are reportedly in pipeline.
Meanwhile, Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Capt (retd) Mustansar Feroze said that maintaining smooth traffic flow on roads and availability of traffic facilities would be his priorities.
