Pemra warns channels of airing ‘propaganda’ in opposition to state


ISLAMABAD:

Pakistan Electronic Media Regulation Authority (Pemra) has issued new directives, caution all satellite tv for pc TV channels referring to criminal motion for both operating a propaganda marketing campaign or spreading incorrect information and disinformation in opposition to state establishments.

According to Pemra, a pattern has been noticed on satellite tv for pc TV channels, through which a few of their anchors and analysts indulged in spreading incorrect information and disinformation in opposition to state establishments.

The media watchdog has requested all satellite tv for pc TV channel licensees to apply the rules laid down within the Constitution and make sure strict compliance with related provisions of Pemra rules.
