New Delhi:

Justice Uday Umesh Lalit used to be on Wednesday appointed because the forty ninth Chief Justice of India after President Droupadi Murmu signed his warrant of appointment.

He will suppose rate on August 27 after incumbent N V Ramana demits place of job the day prior to.

“In workout of the powers conferred via clause (2) of Article 124 of the Constitution of India, the President is happy to nominate Shri Justice Uday Umesh Lalit, pass judgement on of the Supreme Court, to be the Chief Justice of India with impact from 27 August, 2022,” a legislation ministry notification stated.

Justice Lalit could have a short lived tenure of lower than 3 months. He will flip 65 on November 8 when he demits place of job.
